Safety: Cajeput essential oil may cause skin irritation in some individuals & Rose Geranium essential oil should be avoided during early pregnancy. It is a possible irritant to sensitive skin or in strong dilution. It is reported that rose geranium essential oil can cause insomnia if overused. Avoid long term use with history of estrogen-dependent cancer. Lavender and Sweet Orange Essential Oils are non-irritants. Please check the ingredients of each item before using.

Although the incidence of skin allergy is low in using natural henna; even natural products can be a source of allergen. Henna is not safe for infants with G6PD deficiency, more information about G6PD and Henna is available here.

Real henna is never black, should not cause any irritation, and only comes in one natural colour.

KEEP FROZEN - Fresh henna will start to perish once it has been mixed and dye release has occurred. It will take 3-5 days (depending on the temperature) for the staining power to diminish. Freezing will stop this.

Paste can be frozen and thawed up to 3 times if necessary and can be kept in the freezer for up to 6 months

ACRYLIC PAINT CONES - to be kept in an airtight container, or seal the tip with selotape to stop them from drying out. It may be necassary to pinch out the tip of the paint cone every time you want to use them. The paint is water soluble when wet and will wash off most surfaces, it is not toxic if you do get some on your skin, but it is not intended for use on the skin, these are for painting pebbles or cards only!!
Even natural products can be a source of allergen but the incidence of skin allergy is low in using natural henna. Please review all ingredients in our henna before application.

It is not advisable to have henna if the G6PD deficient adult is anemic, or suffering an infectious disease.A healthy G6PD deficient adult may safely have small applications of henna. G6PD deficiency is an inherited condition, and any infant who is diagnosed with this condition MUST NOT have henna – Please seek a medical practitioner for queries. To begin your henna cone pinch out the first little bit of dry henna from the end using tissue paper, the henna will then begin to flow when pressure is applied.

Varying pressure, speed and direction takes many hours of practice; don't be disheartened or give up! Instead contact me if you would like some help, to come to a workshop or have a 1:1 lesson.

Once you have finished your design it will take 30 mins to dry, you need to leave the paste on, when it’s completely dry it will crack and fall off naturally after a few hours (minimum of 3 hours).

Don’t wash or pick off, it needs to stay on to stain well

If it looks like it is lifting off the skin you can apply a sugar solution to the dry henna (1 tsp sugar with a few drops of water)

Avoid water for at least 24hrs if possible –for the best stain

Before washing use aftercare balm or a natural moisturiser to protect it

Watch the stain develop and darken over the next 1-3 days. From pumpkin orange to conker brown.

Keep moisturised and away from the washing up!

It will last 1-2 weeks on your hands and longer elsewhere, but all skins stain differently
