Cycles
Inspired by the cycles of life this hand-carved and hand-printed lino cut was made around Beltane 2020. An extraordinary time which marks the first day of summer; abundant with fertility, creativity and growth for the season ahead. This time also brings together the sky and the earth, the sky here represented in the sun, stars and cycles of the moon, and the earth represented by soil, seeds and the germination of a sunflower. The rays from the sun knit earth and sky together in loving union much like Flora the Goddess of Spring and the Green Man who were hand-fast at Beltane.
Sunny
Sunny the sunflower represents summer, happiness, the solar plexus chakra, strength, vitality and of course sunshine. Place Sunny upon any wall that needs a little extra sunshine : )
Hamsa
Hamsa is a talismanic symbol that people believed to protect them from harm against the evil forces.
The Hamsa Hand or Hand of Fatima is an ancient Middle Eastern talisman. In all cultures it is a protective symbol that people believed would keep them from harm against the evil eye and bring them universal abundance, fertility, luck and good health. Traditionally the spread fingers of the right palm facing upwards shields us from our inner thoughts of hatred, jealousy and insecurities as well as being for powerful protection.
Now
Limited edition of hand-carved lino prints, 'The Time is Now' is from the principals of a life changing book by Eckhart Tolle called 'The Power of Now' - which teaches us to realise deeply that the present moment is all there ever really is, and to live completely in the present at one with the universe.
Within the borders of this print are symbols related to the NOW, specifically the lō kahi (unity, agreement). The Hawaiian symbol that represents this is shaped by the union of three tooth-like black triangles with an inverted white triangle in their centre. This idea is strongly related to an important concept in Polynesian cultures: people, Nature and the spirits are all parts of a unique identity and none of them can prosper without the others. Reinforcing the idea that we must be at one with the universe for us all to prosper.
Within the borders of all 3 prints are traditional tribal north african symbols as used on the facial tattoos of Berber women, and polynesian symbols associated with the themes of each print.

Printed on 220gsm light ivory watercolour paper with lightfast oil based non-toxic inks - choose from either black or indigo. Image size 10 x 15 cm, paper size 13 x 18 cm. These are hand-made and you might find slight variations between each print, please find beauty in these imperfections.
